Bio: 

Professor Myra Walker has been Director and Curator at the Texas Fashion Collection in the College of Visual Arts and Design since 1987, where she also teaches courses in fashion history. She was curator of American Brides: Inspiration and Ingenuity at the Center for Visual Arts in Denton, 2014. Walker co-organized A Decade of Design: Linda Ohrn McDaniel with the artist. In 2013, the Texas Fashion Collection presented Art and Fashion Along the Silk Road: The Joy Losee Collection at the UNT Gallery. Walker was the guest curator for the 2009 fashion exhibition Yeohlee: Design for Now at the Crow Collection of Asian Art in Dallas, Texas. Walker also served as guest curator of a major fashion exhibition at the Meadows Museum at SMU entitled Balenciaga and His Legacy: Haute Couture from the Texas Fashion Collection in 2007 and published a book of the same title in November 2006 for Yale University Press, UK. In fall 2006, Walker established Fashion on Main at 1901 Main in the Universities Center at Dallas. Walker is a member of the Costume Society of America and the American Association of Museums.
